NSSI Receives Multiple
Playground Surfacing Contracts from
Missouri DNR Grant Recipients
The
National Safe Surfacing Initiative (NSSI) is pleased to announce today that it
has received multiple purchase orders from Missouri schools to improve the safety
and ADA compliance of their playground and fitness areas through the use of
NSSI's DuroMat Extended Life® rubber playground safety tiles.
Recent
playground improvement projects were made possible through the Missouri DNR's playground
surfacing grants which are designed to showcase the value of recycled products
made from Missouri scrap tires. The DuroMat playground safety tiles will be
installed under the auspices of the "Missouri Playground Surfacing Program"; a partnership
between NSSI and Missouri School Board Association (MSBA).
"We
appreciate the vision and commitment of the Missouri DNR for providing a grant
program that enables Missouri schools to purchase recycled products that better
protect children and the environment," said Denise Bennett, NSSI Regional
Manager in Macon Missouri. "Through the Missouri Playground Surfacing Program
and our relationship with the MSBA, schools are becoming more aware of the
critical need for quality playground surfacing that improves safety and
accessibility to children of all abilities.
The DNR grants are a valuable tool to assist schools in getting started on
such an important project."
"It's
great that we have found yet another beneficial reuse for tires," said Missouri Department of Natural Resources
Director Doyle Childers, "By creating end markets for these
materials, it is far easier to make sure they are managed in a manner
beneficial to the environment."
Jim
Cherrington, Associate Executive Director, MSBA added, "We are proud to be part
of a project that includes multiple organizations working together to improve
playground safety and provide maintenance savings for Missouri Schools. The Missouri Playground Surfacing Program
provides great benefits for Missouri school children and we believe this
program is the future of playground safety solutions for Missouri schools."
The National Safe Surfacing Initiative provides a full portfolio of
playground safety audits, inspections, designs, and certifications as well as
DuroMat Extended Life® playground safety surfacing to bring playground
surfacing into compliance with federal and state guidelines. NSSI also
provide unique financing and fund-raising solutions enabling communities,
schools and child care centers to invest in safer playground surfaces while
lowering maintenance costs and liability risks.
